I wasn't planning on being educated. Let me rephrase the statement. "I wasn't planning on being schooled." In the playground, that is exactly what we called when someone with more skills, talents, or knowledge made someone else look like a rookie and novice on the basketball court. Well, I got to be honest. I just got schooled by a phlebotomist. I was just planning on getting in and out of the office, but God send me a stranger to assist me along my journey and temporary stay here on earth. I mean, I pray every day that God will use me to bless others, but this day, God turned the tables around and send someone to bless me. I like a God like that! A God that can do you one better that you can. "Here you go", he said. Just so you know I'm still in the business of blessing and bettering lives.
I didn't even ask any questions, or identify myself as part of the remnant church, a church with an amazing and incredible health message. "Why don't I follow it more often in my life? Why do I reach for the junk food and fast-food, instead of God's superfoods? Why do I eat out so often, instead of cooking at home and involving the whole family?" ... I think you know where my mind wanders at times. I don't preach to the choir or to others, I'm just preaching to myself today.
Like gems in a mining cave, the health tips and nuggets dripped from his lips. "Thank you very much! Can you repeat that again?" He was human. He ate candy, sweets, a tradition Christmas meal, Thanksgiving meal, and even white pork and ham for the holidays! He may not be of my same faith (Adventist don't typically eat pork of ham), but can anyone deny that he is a child of God. Nathaniel asked, "Can anything good come of Nazareth". I ask, "can anything good come out of a white pork and ham eating phlebotomist? And the answer is "Yes! God can use anyone at any moment to bless you! And blessed I was.
I'm not bias or prejudiced by nature. I strive and pray for humility and a teachable spirit. I don't have all the wisdom in the world. Matter of fact, I don't have much wisdom at all, for "every good and perfect gift comes from above!" So thank you Jesus, for blessing me on my path to health and wholeness. I want to be healthier in my thinking, my eating, and my drinking. If the children of the world have wisdom, is it asking too much if we receive a little bit today ourselves?
So what health and diet wisdom did I receive today? As with all things, take the good, discard the bad. I know I have. I'm the better for it. "Thank you Jesus, for the phlebotomist and health tips!"
