Summary: Greg Heffley, el nino Adventista, asista a la escuela publica Laurel Elementary School. Aunque no hay muchas pandias, los amigos de Greg han decidido que todos los muchachos que todos los ninos se pongan un tatuaje en el brazo izquirdo. Greg, crecio en un hogar cristiano y un hogar adventista del Septimo dia. Aunque ha crecido en un hogar adventista, asiste a la iglesia y escuela sabatica, y es parte del club de conquistadores, no tiene un relacion con Jesucristo como su Salvador Personal. Que hara frente a la presion y burlas de sus amigos?

Escena 1 – En la Escuela

Personajes: Greg, Rodrick, Rowley, Fregley y Lenwood Heath, Mrs. Riser, Mr. Ray for “Study hall”, Natasha, Chantelle, Leon Rickett …

In the Hallway:

Rowley: Hola Greg. Feliz Lunes! Como te fue en tu fin de semana?

Greg: (nodding  his head): Hola Roley. Lo mismo que siempre. Ir a la iglesia, ir a la casa, comer, ver television, usar el internet, enviar mensajes textos, dormir. Lo mismo de siempre.

Rowley: Greg? Haz decidido que vas a hacer en cuanto al Tatuaje? Este jueves es el gran dia. Si quieres ser popular y parte del grupo, entonces tienes que decidir si o no.

Greg: Y Tu Rowley?

Rowley: Yo no podria aunque quisiera. Mis padres quieren que sea un medico o licenciado y que vaya a una escuela como Harvard o Yale. Me han dicho que si en algun momento llegara a ponerme un tatuaje, me matan. Asi de facil!

Greg: Yo estoy entre la espada y la pared? Quiero ser popular y aceptado. Creo … Pero no se si es la cosa corecta que hacer … Si me tatuo, podria esconder el tatuaje hasta que tenga 18 annos.

Rowley: Greg? Que cuando te Banes o vayas a la play a nadar? Se te olvida que tienes unicamente 13 annos? Piensalo bien. No me dijiste la vez pasada que en tu iglesia hay un pastor juvenil? …

Greg: Si. Si lo hay.

Rowley: Entonces Greg, ve y preguntale a tu pastor que debes hacer. Acaso, no te podria el aconsejar en cuanto si el malo o no ponerte un tatuaje?

Greg: Rowley! No eres un nino de muchas palabras profundas. Pero creo que en todo el tiempo que te e conocido (3 annos), es lo mas sabio que jamas haiga salido de tu boca. Te felicito! … Eso es lo que voy hacer. Voy a hablar con el pastor de jovenes de mi iglesia. Si!

Rowley: “Glad I could be of help”. Ojala te ayude Greg.

Rowley y Greg toman sus libros y su mochilas y caminan entre el pasillo a su siguente clase.

La Estacion Salvavidas

La Estación de Salvavidas

En una costa muy peligrosa donde frecuentemente chocan los barcos, existía una pequeña y simple estación de salvavidas.  El edificio era muy sencillo y solamente había un bote, pero los pocos pero entregados miembros, vigilaban constantemente el mar.  Sin pensar en sí mismos, ellos iban fuera día y noche, buscando incansablemente a los perdidos.
Algunos de los que salvaron, y varios otros de alrededor del área, buscaron asociarse con la estación y dar a ellos tiempo, dinero y ayuda para el apoyo de su trabajo.  Nuevos botes fueron comprados y nuevo personal entrenado.  La pequeña estación de salvavidas creció.
Algunos miembros de la estación se molestaron de que la construcción era muy simple y pobremente equipada.  Ellos sintieron que un lugar más confortable podría servir como un primer refugio para aquellos que fueran salvados del mar.  Ellos reemplazaron los catres por camas y pusieron mejoras en el alargado edificio.  Ahora la estación de salvavidas vino a ser un lugar muy popular para que estos miembros se reunieran y ellos lo decoraron bellamente y lo amueblaron exquisitamente, porque ellos lo usaron como su propio club.  Menos miembros tenían interés en ir al mar para hacer misiones salvavidas, así que ellos usaban empleados para hacer ese trabajo.
El ambiente de los salvavidas siguió prevaleciendo en la decoración de su club, y había un bote salvavidas como símbolo en el cuarto en donde las iniciaciones para ingresar al club eran realizadas.  Por este tiempo, un gran barco encalló cerca de la costa y los empleados entregaron en botes llenos a las personas con frío, mojadas y casi ahogadas.  Ellos estuvieron sucios y enfermos; y algunos de ellos eran de piel negra y otros amarilla.  El nuevo y hermoso club estaba en un caos.  Por eso el comité de propietarios inmediatamente tuvo que construir afuera del club una bañera para que las víctimas del barco encallado, pudieran ser limpiadas antes de entrar al club.
En la próxima reunión hubo división entre los miembros del club.  La mayoría de los miembros buscaron que se pararan las actividades de rescate del club, porque para ellos resultaba molesto y obstruía la vida social normal del club.  Algunos miembros insistieron en que su propósito de salvar las vidas era lo principal y señalaron que ellos deberían ser llamados: la estación de salvavidas.  Pero los otros finalmente votaron en contra y dijeron que si ellos buscaban salvar vidas de todos los tipos de personas quienes sufrieran el choque de un barco en esas aguas, ellos podrían comenzar su propia estación de salvavidas en otra zona de la misma costa.  Ellos lo hicieron.
Con los años que pasaron, la nueva estación experimentó los mismos cambios que tuvieron en la vieja estación.  Entonces ésta se convirtió en un club, y nuevamente otra estación de salvavidas fue fundada.  La historia continúa repitiéndose, y si visitas hoy día la costa, tú encontraras un número de clubes exclusivos a lo largo de ésta.  Los choques de barcos son muy frecuentes en estas aguas, pero la mayoría de la gente se ahoga.

The Parable of the Life Saving Station

On a dangerous sea coast where shipwrecks often occur, there was once a crude little life-saving station. The building was just a hut, and there was only one boat, but the few devoted members kept a constant watch over the sea, and with no thought for themselves, went out day and night tirelessly searching for the lost. Some of those who were saved and various others in the surrounding area wanted to become associated with the station and gave of their time and money and effort for the support of its work. New boats were bought and new crews trained. The little life-saving station grew.

Some of the members of the life-saving station were unhappy that the building was so crude and poorly equipped. They felt that a more comfortable place should be provided as the first refuge of those saved from the sea. They replaced the emergency cots with beds and put better furniture in the enlarged building. Now the life-saving station became a popular gathering place for its members, and they decorated it beautifully because they used it as a sort of club. Fewer members were now interested in going to sea on life-saving missions, so they hired lifeboat crews to do this work. The life-saving motif still prevailed in the club’s decorations, and there was a liturgical life-boat in the room where the club’s initiations were held. About this time a large ship wrecked off the coast, and the hired crews brought in boat loads of cold, wet and half-drowned people. They were dirty and sick. The beautiful new club was in chaos. So the property committee immediately had a shower house build outside the club where victims of shipwrecks could be cleaned up before coming inside.

At the next meeting, there was a split among the club membership. Most of the members wanted to stop the club’s life-saving activities as being unpleasant and a hindrance to the normal social life of the club. Some members insisted upon life-saving as their primary purpose and pointed out that they were still called a life-saving station. But they were finally voted down and told that if they wanted to save lives of all the various kinds of people who were shipwrecked in those waters, they could begin their own life-saving station. So they did.

As the years went by, the new station experienced the same changes that had occurred in the old. It evolved into a club, and yet another life-saving station was founded. History continued to repeat itself, and if you visit that sea coast today, you will find a number of exclusive clubs along that shore. Shipwrecks are frequent in those waters, but most of the people drown.

Your Prayer for the Day: Give me neither poverty nor riches

Thought of the Day: The wisest man that ever lived, Solomon, prayed for neither poverty nor riches. He prayed against riches, that he might not forget God His Maker and Friend due to wealth and riches. He prayed against poverty, that he might not have to steal and bring reproach and shame to the name of God. So what did he pray for then? He asked to have just enough to meet his daily needs, and for God to keep him content with his daily "allotted food". How about you? What is your prayer? Riches? Fame? Wealth? Poverty? Homelessness? Famine? Disease? ... How about making Solomon's prayer your prayer today? 

Suggested Prayer:

   "Make me absolutely honest

   and don't let me be too poor

   or too rich.

   Give me just what I need.

   If I have too much to eat,

   I might forget about you;

   if I don't have enough,

   I might steal

   and disgrace your name."

When God's Mission becomes Your Mission

Here is Your Word for Today:

  

"The Lord's Spirit has come to me, because he has chosen me to tell the good news to the poor. The Lord has sent me to announce freedom for prisoners, to give sight to the blind, to free everyone who suffers, and to say, 'This is the year the Lord has chosen.' " Luke 4:18-19 

Comment: These words were spoken by the Loving Savior when He began His earthly ministry. He was all about helping and healing people, and not about condemning the hopeless, the lost, or those in genuine need. Tear were in His eyes when He cried over the city of Israel and rebuked the religious leaders of His day. May God help us today to make the Mission of Jesus our Mission today! Let us allow God's Spirit to come upon us, anoint us, in order to proclaim "good news" to the poor, announce freedom to those who are prisoners to sin and addictions, give "sight" to those who are spiritually and physically blind, and bring freedom to those who suffer and  are without hope. May we today proclaim, "This is the year the Lord has chosen".

Suggested Prayer: "Dear Lord Jesus. We love you because you first loved us. May Your Mission to reach the physically and spiritually poor, become our Mission today. Use our talents, resources, and gifts to alleviate people's physical needs so that we may be able to help relieve their spiritual needs as well. We commit our lives to spending time in Your Presence each day, that we may be empowered to go and help the poor, hungry, and homeless all around us. May we be Your hands, Your feet, and  Your mouth to everyone we meet today. Forgive us for speaking words of condemnation or hate towards others who need words of love and affirmation instead. Help us. In Your name we pray. Amen."
